Academic Excellence for CFISD

Re-elect Dr. Natalie Blasingame

Position 6

Meet Dr. Natalie Blasingame

Dr. Natalie Blasingame is a proud mother, lifelong educator, community volunteer, and trustee of Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD). As an immigrant from South Africa at the age of nine, she grew up grateful for the freedoms and opportunities that only America provides. Guided by her Christian faith, she believes these blessings come with a responsibility to give back, and she has dedicated her career to strengthening families, building strong schools, and defending the values that make our nation exceptional.

Vision

Dr. Blasingame believes schools must prioritize academic excellence, discipline, and safety, supporting parents as the primary decision-makers in their children’s education. She is committed to pushing back against one-size-fits-all state testing, instead encouraging the development of strong character, critical thinking, and personal responsibility. Her top priorities include:

  • Upholding high academic standards that prepare students for the workforce, higher education, or the military- including addressing literacy from the early grades
  • Creating safe schools where discipline, respect, and order are valued – and making sure teachers know the board “has their back” with behavior
  • Promoting parental engagement and expanding educational choice within our school system
  • Restoring common-sense, traditional values rooted in Judeo-Christian heritage—faith, justice, hard work, and personal accountability

Experience

Dr. Blasingame is a graduate of Alief-Elsik High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a doctorate from the University of Houston. With more than 30 years of experience in Texas public schools, she has served as a bilingual elementary teacher, assistant principal, principal, school support officer overseeing high schools, and assistant superintendent leading district-wide initiatives. Her leadership is distinctly shaped by servant leadership and has always centered on student success, respecting and supporting teachers, parental involvement, and ensuring that schools reflect the values of their communities.

Service and Impact

Since retiring from district administration, Dr. Blasingame has continued her calling by serving as CFISD trustee, working to expand educational excellence and protect equal opportunity for all children in Texas’ third-largest school district. She leads literacy initiatives, works to close achievement gaps, and stands firmly against indoctrination and oversexualization in schools—advocating policies that strengthen families and local communities. Above all, she strives to lead by example, modeling integrity, faith-based decision-making, and a commitment to teaching the next generation the enduring values that make America strong.
